Family Finding
Interested in learning more about CASA’s important work of keeping relatives and fictive kin engaged in the lives of the children we serve? CASA’s Family Engagement Specialist and their team support children’s need for connection and relational permanency by conducting in-depth research on family connections for children in foster care. The team searches case files and social media to identify and locate relatives and fictive kin, and cold calls phone numbers obtained through a special search database in effort to engage any identified connections as supports or placements for children. In this training, volunteers will learn how to utilize these skills with their own cases to ensure that all children have a sense of belonging and connection to their family and community of origin. If you’d like to learn how to amplify the family tree on your traditional case, please attend to learn more!
